_ Brandt Takes Down the St. Cloud Ice Bowl

_ On a chilly day in January, team Vibram player Ross Brandt successfully played through the falling snow and won the coveted Saint Cloud Ice Bowl Championship! A great start to his New Year, Ross takes home the trophy at his first event in 2012. Here is a link to the news video and audio that the Saint Cloud Times features on their website!

Ross Brandt wins at Lake Superior Open

Picture
Ross has got sole!
7/10/11 - With scenic views, rustic camping, and modern accommodations the Lake Superior Open at Mont Du Lac Ski Resort is a true north woods paradise. The ski resort includes a restaurant, bar, and patio that sits at the base of the Mountain Course and adjacent to the White Forrest Course. The LSO was a test of a player’s physical conditioning, course management, and complexity of shots in the bag. Sitting in fourth place and coming back from a two shot deficit in the third round, Ross Brandt hit a 30 foot birdie on the last hole of the White Forrest Course to WIN the LSO tournament by just one stroke!!

Vinnie Miller comes out on top at the Lion's Den

3/6/11 - Vinnie Miller may be old, but the boy can still throw.

Lion's Den results.

After a lackluster first round, Vinnie found himself two shots out of the lead. He responded with a 1000+ rated round and shot the best second round in the tourney, winning Masters by five. Vinnie, makin' us proud.

Tim Walsh wins Disc Jam

Picture
6/19/11 - After being up by two strokes going into the final round, Team Vibram's Tim Walsh stepped up to the plate and accepted the challenge of holding off his competitors. Not only did Tim succeed in securing the victory, he did so with a new course record at the Hyland Orchard course.

Pictured (from left to right) are:
Dave Boliver - Course helper extraordinaire.
Dave Hoey - Disc Jam TD
Tim Walsh - Disc Jam Champion
Don Boutin - Course designer and inspiration

Thanks to Tony Scavone for putting on a heck of a show. It looked like the hundreds (or was it thousands) of attendees had a great time.

Can't wait to see the Disc Jam 2012 style!

Dana Vicich wins Badlands

Picture
6/4/11 - After being in a three way tie after the first round, Team Vibram's Dana Vicich put the petal to the medal and threw down a 1040 rated 60 at the 2011 Badlands Open.

Dana later said, "toughest course I've ever played. A real gem! Next up 3 days hanging out in Yellowstone National Park for a trip down memory lane (I worked at YNP in 2004).

Have a great trip Dana!

Ross Brandt wins Riverside Open

Picture
6/4/11 - Now with his Graduate courses finished for the summer, the disc golf season is in full swing for Ross Brandt. He smashed chains at his old, college-days course taking his first PDGA win for 2011. In addition to winning each round, Ross earned a permanent place among the Saint Cloud greats by receiving “The Mark Smith Award” and looks forward to returning next summer to see the challenge of the course and the old hounds and young bucks of the area. Congrats on finishing the courses!

Greg Wintrob wins Maple Hill VI

Picture
5/22/11 - Team Vibram's Greg Wintrob wins Maple Hill VI in commanding fashion. After shooting a course record 49 on the Maple Hill Whites, Gregger backed it up with a 63 on the tweaked Maple Hill Golds, good enough for a 12 stroke victory.

Well done Greger! Here's a little (more!) front page love.

Little Joe wins the Rumble. Rockburn style.

Picture
5/21/2011 - Little Joe Gustafson wins the 2011 Rockburn Rumble. The weather was great, sunny with a nice breeze. The Trak(aka Trek) performed excellent both rounds (1017 & 1018 rated!). Great woods disc. Played well all week with it. Shot of the day was a uphill 375' horseshoe to the left through tight trees. Pulled out the X-Link Trek, threw the hyser flip up high, made the corner, flipped up perfectly and held the line all the way to the pole. 2' drop in to seal the deal with one hole left. You gotta love it when things work out.

Vibram Disc Golf goes 1, 2 at Pinnacle, NH

Picture
5/1/11 - Team Vibram's Tim Walsh won the Pinnacle Spring Run-Off held at Pinnacle Peak in Newport, NH. Tim and two others were tied for the lead (shooting 57s) going into the second round, when Tim exploded with a course record 54.

Nice shooting Timmay!

Jerel Davis, also of Team Vibram, carded second place giving Team Vibram a one-two punch at Pinnacle.

Maybe it's the hat?!

Greger wins some more!

Picture
4/23/11 - Team Vibram's Greg Wintrob gets the win at the Sherwood Island Open.

Cool facts from the event:
  1. He shot a couple of 1020+ rated rounds
  2. He got second his last four events and is very happy to finally walk to the podium a winner
  3. The trophy that he won is a disc that he dyed for the tournament!

Well done Greger! Here's a little front page love.

And you look marvelous in the hat!

Mitch Sonderfan: A hot start to 2011

Picture
Team Vibram's Mitch Sonderfan is off to a hot start in 2011 with a couple of solid wins in the last few weeks.

Hero's Huk: After a tough first round, Mitch battled back to make it into the final nine and overcame a two hole deficit to Austen Montgomery to win Hero's Huk by two.

Hero's Huk Results

St. Patty's Day Meltdown: Mitch battled with a talented field and again managed to pull away and and secure the win. That's two great wins in the great month of March.

Greg uses Nickel to win Buff Doubles Charity event

2/19/11 - Team Vibram's Greg Wintrob partnered with Jack Nickel to take down the Buffumville Dam Doubles Charity event put on by David Stidham (center). They won by six strokes and possibly made it look a little too easy. Rumors are flying that they may have set a new course record of 48.

Well done Greg and Jack. Keep up the great golfing, stay healthy, and stay warm.

Greg is pictured on the left and swears his Vibram shirt is under the coat. Thank goodness he is at least stylishly sporting his Quabaug / Vibram head gear.

Greger wins going away.

2/12/11 - In a nail biter, Team Vibram player Greg Wintrob won the 16th Rhode Island Frostbite Classic. By 21 strokes!

2/13/11 - He followed up the victory with a second place finish with partner Jack Nickel at the Tolland Dubs, part of the New England Doubles Series. Jeff Cahill and Sjur Soleng got the win.

All in all, 90 holes of disc golf, a first and a second, and the cheesy grin that we have come to know and love never once left his face. A great weekend Greg!

Tim Walsh and Whitey heat it up!

2/5/11 - The West Thompson Ice Bowl (raising money for the Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group) was the scene of the most recent Team Vibram victory. Team Vibram's Tim Walsh joined forces with Whitey (Justin White to his mom) and won in a one hole playoff against Rob Tatro and Billy Dunne.

TD Steve Dakai said that Rick Rothstein thinks they might have broken a record for number of inches of snow on the ground during an ice bowl. With parts of Connecticut getting over five feet of snow (so far) in 2011, I don't doubt it! Nice win Timmmay!

Picture

Little Joe wins in the snow!

1/30/11 - Team Vibram is on a roll up. "Little" Joe Gustafson joins in on the winning action and brings down the Rockburn Charity Ice Bowl.

It was a Charity Ice Bowl that raised more than $800 for the Maryland Food Bank. Most players gave their winnings to the cause.

Joe's favorite part of the day: the chili cookoff after the tourney!
Nothing beats chili after an Ice Bowl(R).

Picture

Frostbite Doubles (NEFA Dubz)

1/29/11 - It came down to a playoff. Trailing by one going into the final hole of regulation, On the first playoff hole, Team Vibram player Kyle Enman's drive skipped off the snow and hit the cage, a couple inches short of going in. Their opponents, Chris LeClair and Ryan Bourque, putt up a valiant effort but could not pull off the birde. After Kyle, and teammate Josh Connell, secured the birdie, they also secured the second win in as many weekends for Team Vibram.

It's kind of cool seeing the cash on the Vibram disc, eh?

Picture

Chalk one up at the Big Freeze!

1/22/11 - Team Vibram player Ross Brandt and Cale Leiviska won the Big Freeze, a big doubles Ice Bowl in Wisconsin last weekend at Dretzka against an impressive field of players.

Team Vibram's first win of the season, nice and early. Well done Ross and Cale.
