Frequently Asked Questions |
What happens if I lose my first match? |
|
Regionals - You play the second round against someone else that lost their first match.
Finals - Every competitor plays at least five matches in the finals. If you lose, you go from the A Pool to the B Pool. As long as you end up with a winning record (3-2 or better), you'll cash. One bad round won't spoil your weekend at the Player's Cup! |
What is this? |
|
We are taking the NCAA March Madness and applying the same concept to disc golf. The top players in the world will face off in a mano-a-mano matchplay tournament. |
How can I get in? |
|
There are three ways to get into the 64 player match play tournament.
- The top 32 ranked players in the world have a spot reserved.
- Three qualifiers from each of the eight Regionals will make the finals.
- The TDs of the Regionals will get an invite as a thank-you for running Regionals.

What time & day does Regional registration open? |
|
Registration for the Regional Qualifiers will be done through this site.
Registration will begin on August 17th at noon EST and will be done on a first come, first served status. If a region fills, a wait list will be formed. |
Can I come and watch? |
|
Absolutely! We plan on charging $5 per car to get into the course. Your parking ticket can be used as a $5 coupon at the Flymart on Saturday night or at the concession stand on Saturday or Sunday. |
What is Matchplay? |
|
Wikipedia explains it very well. Basically, it is a head to head format where each hole is worth one point. Win the hole, get a point. Tie the hole, halve the point. Lost the hole, lose the point. |
Can I play in multiple regionals? |
|
Yes. You do not need to live in a specific region to play in that areas Regionals. |

How can I sponsor? |
|
We will have a very limited number of fund-raiser discs available. There are also multiple Sponsorship Levels.
Contact Mike Barnett or Steven Dodge to reserve your spot. |
What about strength of regions? |
|
While it is true that all regions are not created equally, for the first year, we would hate to penalize a region based on how we think they would perform. Therefore, in 2010, all regions will get three qualifiers plus their Regional TD.
In 2011, the two weakest regions (as determined by won-loss record of their Regional Qualifiers and Regional TD at the Finals), will lose one qualifier spot and the two strongest regions will gain one qualifier spot. |
Will there be a play in event in case someone does not show? |
|
Yes. There will be a final chance to get into the tourney on Thursday the 19th. It will cost $10 to play and your entry fee receipt will be a $10 coupon to the Flymart on Saturday night.
If someone does not show up for their match on Friday, the top player from the play in event will take the missing player's spot. |
