MITCH'S FAVORITES
FAVORITE VIBRAM STORY: "This would have to be showing up to our weekly league at Red Rocks in Colorado. The ace pool had been accumulating for almost 2 years without being hit despite multiple shorter 'ace run' holes on the course (which you play twice since it's only a 9 hole course.) Stepped up to hole 9 which is all of maybe 130' but completely blind over some tall trees. Threw a hyzer with my X-Link Firm Ridge and before it hit the ground I leaned an ear in (as everyone always does because it's so short and a blind shot) to listen for the chains, when all the sudden, CHING! Ran up there, ACE! Good for $396."

ADVICE FROM A PRO
Have fun out there! If you start taking it too seriously, you won't play as well. Practice, practice, practice!! It really does pay off. For most people, field work is great but for me that doesn't cut it. The 'practice' that works best for me is playing every round with something on the line, whether it's a club tag, $1, or just bragging rights. I get more out of competitive rounds than I do if I just go to a course by myself or throw in a wide open field. Oh yea and one last thing: HAVE FUN OUT THERE. After all, that IS why you started playing the sport. If you lose your cool, you're done.
Mitch keeps on winning! You know who I would not want to face at the Players Cup? Mitch Sonderfan.
As Mitch said to me, "hmmm, this could have been the best tournament I've ever played." He shot 1048 & 1049 rated rounds to win the 2011 Mile High Open by nine strokes. Just a few weeks earlier, he played "the best tournament I've ever played, start to finish" and won at the Johnny Roberts Memorial. Well done Mitch. We'll be rooting for you at the Players Cup - and feeling sorry for the players that go up against you. |
Team Vibram Wins! |
Dana Vicich wins at the Sinnissippi Open and the Morton Pumpkin Festival. He left me with a wonderful insight: "Disc golf is cool."
Vinnie Miller takes down a crowd of young guns nipping at his heels and wins the Live Oak Summer Open and the Fly Ink Sizzler, where he shoots a 1069 rated 14 under par. Mitch Sonderfan plays "the best tournament I've ever played, start to finish" and wins at the Johnny Roberts Memorial. Ross Brandt wins The Lake Superior Open at the Mont Du Lac Ski Resort, a true north woods paradise. Nice shooting Ross! |
Mitch Sonderfan: A hot start to 2011
Team Vibram's Mitch Sonderfan is off to a hot start in 2011 with a couple of solid wins in the last few weeks.
Hero's Huk: After a tough first round, Mitch battled back to make it into the final nine and overcame a two hole deficit to Austen Montgomery to win Hero's Huk by two.
Hero's Huk Results
St. Patty's Day Meltdown: Mitch battled with a talented field and again managed to pull away and and secure the win. That's two great wins in the great month of March.
