MIKE'S FAVORITES

FAVORITE VIBRAM STORY: Steve Dodge was in town and handed me an Ibex. He described their intentions when designing the disc and what they were trying to achieve. My first throw with the Ibex was into a 30 mph head wind. It flew perfectly about 320 feet. So began my love of Vibram discs.......

Three Favorite Vibram Discs

Ascent / Ibex - Both discs are crucial to my game and I can throw them in so many different situations. Dependability and consistency. Some days I wonder why I even have any other discs in my bag.

VP - This is the greatest putter of all time in the wind. I have made more jump putts with the VP in the year I've been throwing it then all my old putters combined. Plus, it's dark purple and that's pretty cool.

Favorite Tournaments:
Every one of 'em

Favorite Ace Story:  I was playing Steeplechase park in Kyle Texas with my friend Dan when the wind was blowing 20-30mph. I aced hole 8 with a backhand. Then I birdied hole 9 in the long position. A friend of ours had called as I was teeing off on hole 10. Dan was just informing him of my ace followed by the birdie. While he was in the process of relaying this information I threw a forehand and ace'd hole 10! I think he was mostly upset because we were playing 51 and he had to buy lunch.
Favorite Courses:
Hornets Nest (The Web)
San Saba (R.I.P.)
Winthrop Gold
Hippodrome (World's layout)
The Beast (Waco)
Amarillo Gold course that John "Rock" Stewart designed for tournament play. Can't remember the name......
Idlewild
Little Lehigh Valley (Allentown World's Layout)

ADVICE FROM A PRO

Learn to throw the disc in your hand. They are all round. There is no disc that is better than another disc. Find what fits your game. If you ever want to become a pro golfer, start practicing your excuses now for why you don't win every tournament you play. Remember, it's never your fault......
