DANA'S FAVORITES

FAVORITE VIBRAM STORY:  "So I'm sitting at a picnic table during the '12 Vibram Open award ceremonies, eating some cheese fries, or something like that, when all of a sudden I hear my name being called as the recipient for the Big Dawg Award aka The Spirit Award. As the crowd cleared a path for me for my 75 or so foot walk from my picnic table in the back up to the 18th green, I must have given out 300 or so high fives. Realistically, It was probably closer to 500 high fives. Anyways, in all seriousness, that there is one of my favorite disc golf moments ever. I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for Big Dawg (Andrew Sweeton) and the previous winners of the award. I still can't believe it. It was all quite humbling. I still feel like there were 10+ others who were more deserving"

Three Favorite Vibram Discs

Lace - The Lace was long awaited and with its October 2012 release, it did not disappoint. Without much effort, the Lace just goes and goes. If I put some extra juice on it, I can get it to fly 400+ ft and finish to the right (right hand back hand throw).

Obex - Watch the video below and find out why!

Summit -  Its a hyzer flip dream. By controlling angles and speed I can get the Summit to do some crazy things. If I'm in the woods looking at a tricky shot, I usually grab for the Summit.

Favorite Ace Story: Acing hole 1 at the United States Disc Golf Championships in 2010. I promptly gave the strokes right back on hole 2 with a double bogey. (There is a youtube video of me hitting the ace)

Favorite Courses:
Maple Hill - Leicester, MA
Whistlers Bend- Roseberg, OR
Sandy Pt. Disc Resort and Disc Golf Ranch- Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin
Lemon Lake- Crown Point, IN

Favorite Tournaments:
Vibram Open, MA
Illinois State Championships, IL
Badlands Open, ND
Legion of Doom, IA (coolest tourney name ever?)
Canadian Disc Golf Championships, BC
Sinnisssipi Open, IL

ADVICE FROM A PRO

Learn to throw a putter and mid-range disc before you pick up a driver. I equip as many beginners as possible with only a Ridge and Ibex. Once you learn to throw those discs, you will have much better results once you graduate to a fairway or distance driver. (This is the advice I wish someone would have given me).

GETTING THE JOB DONE - THE VIBRAM WAY

Vicich Gets it Done at AAA's First Flight Event!

Team Vibram's Dana Vicich chalks up another first place win at AAA's First Flight event. This win makes Dana's 7th straight Illinois PDGA win, dating back to last year! Great stuff and way to represent!

Vicich Plows Competition at Pine Hill's Ice Bowl !

Team Vibram's own Dana Vicich and team mate Mike Fierke managed to best all of the competition, taking 1st Place at the Pine Hill's Ice Bowl. Hosting a total of 38 players, the tournament raised over $1,000 as well as a variety of canned goods, which will be donated to charity. This win marks Vicich's 2nd Ice Bowl victory of the 2012 season!

Team Vibram Wins!

Dana Vicich wins at the Sinnissippi Open and the Morton Pumpkin Festival. He left me with a wonderful insight: "Disc golf is cool."

Vinnie Miller takes down a crowd of young guns nipping at his heels and wins the Live Oak Summer Open and the Fly Ink Sizzler, where he shoots a 1069 rated 14 under par.

Mitch Sonderfan plays "the best tournament I've ever played, start to finish" and wins at the Johnny Roberts Memorial.

Ross Brandt wins The Lake Superior Open at the Mont Du Lac Ski Resort, a true north woods paradise. Nice shooting Ross!

Dana Vicich wins Badlands

Picture
6/4/11 - After being in a three way tie after the first round, Team Vibram's Dana Vicich put the petal to the medal and threw down a 1040 rated 60 at the 2011 Badlands Open.

Dana later said, "toughest course I've ever played. A real gem! Next up 3 days hanging out in Yellowstone National Park for a trip down memory lane (I worked at YNP in 2004).

Have a great trip Dana!
